Description
Summary:The aim of this essay is to study and describe the spoken Finnish. The study describes the language of the informants and specially the incorrect use of the language. The aim is to find out what mistakes the informants make and whether they make the same kind of mistakes. One aim is to find out whether their language is influenced by Swedish and whether it is influenced to the same extent. Another aim is to find out whether Tornedalen Finnish (Meänkieli), the local variant of the Finnish language influences their language. The study is based on eight interviews done with Swedish teenagers from Pajala, and the study method is qualitative and descriptive. The study includes morphology, syntax and semantics. The result of the study shows that the influence of Swedish is noticed mainly in the syntax. The influence is not noticed to the same extent in the language of all the informants. The influence of Tornedalen Finnish is noticed mainly in the vocabulary, personal pronouns and morphology. Tornedalen Finnish is not used by all informants and not to the same extent by all of them.
