Description
Summary:Multidisciplinary environmental research consists of natural science disciplines and social and humanistic sciences that highlight the way environmental problems are bound to society and culture. Environmental research in the social sciences examines the social and communal causes and consequences of environmental problems and conflicts. Art-based research is one possible approach to environmental research. Art can play a role in research methods or it can be used to communicate the results in a striking way, both on natural and humanistic environmental research. There is a variety of art-based environmental research in international contemporary art at the intersection of natural sciences and contemporary art. In this presentation I introduce the concept of art based environmental research, some artist working in this field and some element of the art based action research that I have conducted myself about artist´s participation to environmental discussions.
