Description
Summary:This is the first output from a multi national collaborative project based in Iceland. The site is a substantial settlement or skali, which has been variously interepreted as a pagan temple or a ritualistic centre. It is clear it is a primary farmstead which played a major local and national role. The material culture (Batey) demonstrates the use of both the primary tool kit from Scandinavia and the modifications needed though life in a new country with different resources.
