Thesis presents architectural design of the northern lights observatory in Rovaniemi in the north of Finland designed in relation to the internationally organized architectural competition. The program contains beside the observatory a small hotel, Finnish spa areas, restaurant and a planetarium in the middle of surrounding forests and pristine nature. The design of the observatory embodies the effect of making the landscape into a composition by providing a frame. The hotel with restaurant and the planetary fills in the service for the visitor by making the spot a tourist destination. The hotel offers private rooms and Finnish spa areas enclosing around a spacious forest area, thus creating a ?forest courtyard? in the sense of semi-closed private space in the middle of pristine Laplandish nature. Práce obsahuje architektonický návrh observatoře polární záře ve městě Rovaniemi na severu Finska vypracovaný ve smyslu vypsané mezinárodní soutěže. Stavební program mimo observatoř zahrnuje malý hotel se saunou, restaurací a planetáriem uprostřed lesů a čisté přírody. Návrh observatoře pracuje s efektem komponování pohledu do krajiny poskytnutím jasně daného rámce pro pozorování. Objekt hotelu s restaurací a planetáriem doplňuje observatoř o servis a zázemí pro návštěvníky. Hotel nabízí soukromé pokoje a sauny uzavřené kolem prostorného původního lesa vytvářející jakýsi ?lesní dvůr? hotelu, nabízející polouzavřený soukromý prostor uvnitř původní laponské přírody.
