| Summary: | This is the story of an encounter between a bear and an anthropologist in Kamtchatka. The author recalls the event as well as the dreams she had had before the encounter. It took place during her stay among the Even, where she was conducting fieldwork in the Icha area in Kamtchatka. She compares her first experience of doing fieldwork among the Gwich’in in Alaska and her experience in Kamtchatka, and raises the issues of critical distance in anthropology and of the relationships she has with the people she conducts participant observation among. Cet article est le récit d’une rencontre entre un ours et une anthropologue au Kamtchatka. L’auteur revient sur cette expérience et sur les rêves qui ont précédé l’événement lorsqu’elle se trouvait sur son terrain chez les Even de la région d’Icha au Kamtchatka. En opérant un va-et-vient entre son premier terrain chez les Gwich’in d’Alaska et le présent terrain au Kamtchatka, elle pose la question de la distance critique de l’anthropologue et des relations énigmatiques qui la lient à ceux dont elle partage les existences.
