Continuing his publications on the image of the north, Kajsa Andersson brought together in this demanding and generous volume more than thirty studies on Lapland or, in order to respect the indigenous designation, the ‘Sápmi’, the colonised and balkanised people after 1750, living in the vast area between the Scandinavian world and the Kola peninsula. History, ethnography and politics, travel (xvia-nth centuries), plastic arts, music, literature, etc. were discussed in turn.
