L’abaissement des eaux de la Loire a fait apparaître, début juillet 1994, le fond bien conservé d’une embarcation monoxyle en chêne datant du début du Moyen Âge. Cette dernière avait été repérée par D. Garnier et P. Pichaud sur une grève de sable située sur la rive gauche du chenal de navigation, en amont de l’île Coton (Ancenis). Les fortes chaleurs régnant à cette période de l’année ont obligé à la récupérer de toute urgence afin d’éviter le dessèchement complet de son bois gorgé d’eau. Pou.
