Description
Summary:Aim was to study vital potential losses due to violent mortality in the Arkhangelsk region from 1980 to 2012. Materials and methods. Сomputation of vital potential losses due to premature death from external causes was conducted on the basis of mortality tables construction by sex and territory at use of data from Federal State Statistics Service and State archive of the Arkhangelsk region from 1980 to 2012 and also data on absolute number of violent deaths by the causes. Results. The analysis of vital potential losses due to the external causes in the Arkhangelsk region from 1980 to 2012 by sex, age groups and territory was conducted. Ratio of losses among men and women is 3.4: 1, the greatest excess is in age group of 20–39 (5.4 times). The greatest part of external cause’s losses in structure of total mortality in average among male and female population is the share of 10–19 and 20–39 age groups. The analysis of separate causes contribution in losses of vital potential due to external mortality has shown that the first rank place belongs to suicide (21.4 %), second – traffic accidents (13.3 %), third – accidental alcohol poisonings (12.6 %). Field of application: public health and health care, health care management.
