Summary:In the present paper on the basis of a probabilistic interpretation of the earthquake repetition law, simple formulas were obtained which allow us from the known number of earthquake events in a representative interval of energy class (magnitude) to estimate the number of seismic events falling within an unrepresentative interval and the expected time of an earthquake with a magnitude exceeding the maximum registered values for the period of instrumental observations.
