Description
Summary:The interannual and seasonal changes of Arctic sea ice extent according to satellite observations from 1978–2018 are analyzed. Steady reduction in the sea ice cover over the research period is reported. In addition, we denoted the especially pronounced during the summer months acceleration of the reduction of the sea ice extent in 2009–2018. The uneven reduction of the sea ice extent over the seasons is shown. In 2009–2018 the processes of the reduction of the sea ice are earlier and faster than in 1979–1988.
