Summary:Purpose of the study. The article describes the study of the mental state of specialists working in the Arctic and extreme conditions of the Far North. The dominant mental state characterizes the activity of a person in the process of activity and indicates the satisfaction of actual personal needs. Method and methodology of the work. To study the dominant state was used questionnaire by L.V. Kulikov. Mathematical data processing was carried out using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Results. Negative dominant states of the respondents, a decrease in the intensity and pace of activity associated with the depletion of human resource capabilities are identified. Respondents noted mood variability, increased irritability, depression. Women exhibit a more stable and positive mental state than men. The more the work experience in the North, the more active the respondents show, the tone rises, the anxiety decreases. Adaptation processes can contribute to the improvement of the emotional background, long-term work in the Arctic and the Extreme North can lead to professional burnout, and various kinds of professional deformations. Scope of results. The results of the study can be applied in the development of adaptation programs for specialists and shift workers to the extreme conditions of the Far North.
