Description
Summary:One of the priority research areas of the North-West Scientific Center for Hygiene and Public Health (St. Petersburg, Russia) during more than 20 years has been the study of the state of health and the living environment of the population in the Russian Arctic. The result of this work was the creation in 2017 of the Atlas of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Situation on the Territory of the Russian Arctic and the publication of information bulletins on the state of public health and environmental factors of the population of the Russian Arctic in 2018 and 2019. The results obtained make it possible to draw conclusions about the dynamics of indicators characterizing the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population for a given period in relation to both the Russian Arctic as a whole and in the context of particular municipalities of Arctic zone. In order to make management decisions aimed at improving the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population of the Russian Arctic, it seems necessary to introduce modern software products based on geographic information systems into the practical activities of agencies and institutions of the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing.
