Description
Summary:[EN] This project has worked with a Kaplan turbine, the scale of another located in a hydroelectric plant in northern Sweden. For this, a laboratory test bench is available in which all possible measurements and investigations can be carried out and which can be extrapolated to the real turbine. Assistance has been provided in the assembly and improvement of said turbine and its corresponding electrical and mechanical installations (installation of sensors, configuration in Simulink for data reading, installation improvements to avoid water leaks). Once the turbine is ready, the data is measured to characterize and know its different operating points. To do this, measurements of: efficiency, turbine water head, flow, and moving blade opening are collected. Then the different efficiencies obtained in isoline are plotted concerning the flow rate and the head of water. On the other hand, we proceed to study the conditions generated by the vortexes inside the diffuser. For this, there are two precision sensors facing each other. Through LabView spectrograms are generated in which the signal amplitude peaks are observed for a certain frequency of oscillation of the vertex. Thanks to them, two parts are distinguished: the linear speed part of the vortex and the rotating part. Subsequently, all the information obtained is graphed. With this work, it is possible to know how the eral turbine located in northern Sweden works, and with them avoid vortex losses and work at the point of maximum efficiency whenever possible.
