| Summary: | This bibliographic and documentary research aims to approximate a description of the Fisheries Ordinance 1892, their background and the first decade of entry into force. That legislation was to regulate the industryso sea lions, in the territorial waters of the country. Fitting that the ordinance experienced during its first decade and determine public policy decisions made in relation to fishing or hunting of seals in the Territory of Magallanes and Antarctic seas.However, the inefficiency of the standard, ultimately led to the search for new mechanisms to strengthen it. La presente investigación bibliográfica y documental tiene por objetivo aproximarse a una descripción de la Ordenanza de Pesca de 1892, sus antecedentes y la primera década entrada en vigor. Dicha normativa tuvo por fin regular la industria de lobos marinos, en el mar territorial del país. La adaptación que dicha ordenanza experimentó durante su primera década determinaría las políticas públicas y decisiones que se tomaron enrelación a la pesca o caza de lobos marinos en el Territorio de Magallanes y en los mares antárticos. Sin embargo, la ineficacia de la norma, conllevo a la búsqueda de nuevos mecanismos para fortalecerla.
