Summary:The study presents the analysis of the views of young respondents living in Moscow, Perm, Novosibirsk and Khanty-Mansiysk on the image of the present and future Russia and the images of the Oriental (Japan and China) and Western (the United Europe and the United States) civilizations. The study was carried out with the help of a specially designed method of particular semantic differential (48 bipolar scales). The data were processed by means of factor and correlation analysis for each region separately. Within the categorical structure of all the respondentsu2019 perceptions two categories were identified to correspond to the concept of u201ccivilizational identityu201d: 1) social distance and 2) civilizational affiliation.
