Summary: | The occurrence of permafrost within a small bog on the Charlevoix highlands represents the southernmost outlier ever found in Québec. According to the stratigraphy of the peat deposit, subalpine conditions prevailed at least since ca. 470 BP, and permafrost development began during the Little Ice Age. |
