Après la seconde guerre mondiale, durant laquelle il fut emprisonné dans un camp de travail, il devint professeur de zoologie à l’université de Leiden. En 1949 il devint maître de conférenc. Introduction Nikolaus Tinbergen were born in the Netherlands in the city of The Hague in 1907. He studied biology at the University of Leiden and defended his thesis in 1932. Tinbergen left in 1933 for a shipment to Greenland and then restarted to work in the Netherlands as an assistant to the Zoology Department. After the Second World War, during which he was imprisoned in a labour camp, he became a professor of zoology at the University of Leiden. In 1949 he became senior lecturer. |
