Description
Summary:Abstract Some Mycoplasma species are well known avian pathogens and are of importance in poultry breeder flocks due to their pathogenic potential for embryos. Mycoplasmas are regularly detected in birds of prey and a strain of M. lipofaciens that was isolated from an egg of a Northern Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis) was examined for its pathogenicity in specific pathogen-free chicken embryos since birds of prey eggs were not available for this purpose. The strain was found to be pathogenic, causing a high mortality as well as dwarfing, curled toes and infiltrations of heterophils in the liver, kidney, intestine and chorioallantoic membrane. : Lierz, Michael, Lierz@vetmed.fu-berlin.de merged with this user on 21-May-2009 by Lammey, Rachael (Lierz, Michael) : User ID: 4263090 merged with this user on 24-May-2006 by Cavanagh, Dave; Hafez, Hafez, hafez.mohamed@vetmed.fu-berlin.de [Last in: 29-Aug-2007 3:08 AM] merged with this user on 21-May-2009 by Lammey, Rachael; User ID: 3073987 merged with this user on 04-Jul-2007 by Cavanagh, Verity User ID: 5283477 merged with this user on 04-Jul-2007 by Cavanagh, Verity (Hafez, Hafez Mohamed) michael.lierz@vetmed.uni-giessen.de (Lierz, Michael) robert.stark@vetmed.fu-berlin.de (Stark, Robert) hafez@vetmed.fu-berlin.de (Hafez, Hafez Mohamed) Sebastian.Brokat@charite.de (Brokat, Sebastian) Free University of Berlin, Institute for Poultry Diseases - Koenigsweg 63--> - 14163 - Berlin - GERMANY (Lierz, Michael) Free University of Berlin, Institute for Veterinary Pathology - Berlin - GERMANY (Stark, Robert) Free University of Berlin, Institute for Poultry Diseases - Berlin - GERMANY (Hafez, Hafez Mohamed) Charite - Berlin - GERMANY (Brokat, Sebastian) GERMANY
