Summary:Exposure to challenging thermal environments such as jungle, desert, arctic, maritime, coastal shores and mountains can impose hazardous working conditions to NATO ground forces. This report describes a) an overview of models on how to estimate the thermal load from clothing and equipment, b) a methodology on how to incorporate the effects of wet clothing on thermal load and c) a methodology for forecasting heat load based on weather reports.
