Summary:In 2018 some 287 000 children were born in the Nordic countries, showing a slight decrease compared to 2017 (-1.4%). However, in Iceland the number of live born babies increased slightly in 2018 and remained relatively stable in Sweden and Denmark. The number of live born babies decreased in Finland and Norway. The total fertility rate in Sweden is one of the highest in Europe.
