Summary:The developments in women's gainful employment and changes in the pension schemes in the EU countries have been investigated by Sini Laitinen-Kuikka and Eila Tuominen. The project studied the way in which the pension schemes have responded to issues related to the division of labour between the genders, the differences between care work and gainful employment, and changes to these. The connection between changes in women’s gainful employment and pension provision was studied within the framework of welfare state research.
