| Summary: | Laboratoriotutkimuksissa potilaan huolellinen esivalmistautuminen ja ohjaus ovat oleellisia tekijöitä pyrittäessä vakioimaan elimistön toimintoja niin, että otettu näyte kuvaisi mahdollisimman hyvin potilaan todellista tilaa ja eri kerroilla otetut näytteet olisivat vertailukelpoisia. Tämän vuoksi potilaan ohjaus ennen näytteenottoa on tärkeää. Lisäksi tieto tehtävistä tutkimuksista ja niiden tarpeellisuuden ja tarkoituksen perustelu poistavat potilaalta turhia pelkoja ja motivoivat häntä noudattamaan annettuja ohjeita. Potilaan ohjaus suositellaan tekemään sekä kirjallisesti että suullisesti. Maahanmuuttajille suunnattua kirjallista potilasohjeistusta ei kuitenkaan ole tutkimuksien mukaan riittävästi saatavilla. Tilastokeskuksen mukaan vuonna 2011 Suomen väestöstä muita kuin suomea, ruotsia tai saamea äidinkielenään puhuvia oli 4,5 prosenttia väestöstä. Vieraskielisten määrä lähestyy jo äidinkielenään ruotsia puhuvien määrää, sekä maahanmuuttajien osuus Suomen väestöstä kasvaa vuosittain. Opinnäytetyön tehtävänä oli tuottaa maahanmuuttajille suunnattu kirjallinen potilasohje laboratoriossa asiointia varten. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toiminnallisena tutkimuksena. Toimeksiantajana työlle toimi Itä-Suomen laboratoriokeskuksen liikelaitoskuntayhtymä (ISLAB). Tuotoksena tehty potilasohje rajattiin koskemaan laboratorion näytteenotossa asiointia sekä veri-, virtsa- ja ulostenäytteidenottoa. Ohje toteutettiin suomen- ja englanninkielisenä. Jatkokehitysmahdollisuutena työlle on sen kääntäminen muille kielille, sekä laajentaminen sisältämään tietoa muista laboratoriotutkimuksista. It is vital for laboratory tests that patients are carefully prepared and precisely instructed before visiting a laboratory in order to standardize the body`s functions, so that the sample taken will represent accurately the patient`s real condition and samples taken at different times will be comparable. Therefore, giving instructions to patients before taking samples is very important. In addition, to the information given to patients about the tests, also justifying the significance and necessity of the tests will decrease unnecessary fears among patients and motivate them to follow the given instructions. It is advisable to instruct patients both verbally and in writing. Studies show that there is not enough written patient instruction material available for immigrants. According to the Central Statistical Office of Finland, in the year 2011 4.5 per cent of the population of Finland spoke some other language than Finnish, Swedish or Sami as their mother tongue. The number of foreigners is approaching that of the Swedish speaking population and their proportion of the population of Finland also increases annually. The objective of this thesis was to produce patient instructions for immigrants for visiting a laboratory. The thesis was carried out as a practice-based study and it was commissioned by the Eastern Finland Laboratory Centre Joint Authority Enterprise (ISLAB). The patient instructions were outlined to focus on visiting a laboratory and giving blood, urine and stool samples. The patient instructions were realized in Finnish and English. A possible idea for further development would be to translate the patient instructions to other languages and expand it to include information on other laboratory tests.
