| Summary: | Opinnäytetyössämme kartoitimme erään pohjoissuomalaisen kunnan perhetyön asiakasperheiden vanhempien kokemuksia heidän saamastaan perhetyöstä. Tavoitteenamme oli selvittää, kuinka heidän ennakkoasenteensa tai käsityksensä perhetyöstä ovat muuttuneet perhetyöprosessin aikana ja ovatko he tyytyväisiä saamaansa palveluun. Valitsimme perhetyön aiheeksemme sen ajankohtaisuuden, moniulotteisuuden sekä oman mielenkiintomme vuoksi. Erityisesti meitä kiinnostava teema oli perhetyöhön liittyvät asenteet. Toivomme opinnäytetyöstämme olevan hyötyä meidän lisäksemme yhteistyökuntamme perhetyöntekijöille sekä muille sosiaalialalla työskenteleville henkilöille. Saimme haastatteluistamme tärkeää tietoa liittyen esimerkiksi ensikohtaamisen/ ensivaikutelman tärkeyteen sekä ihmisten yleiseen käsitykseen perhetyötä kohtaan. Opinnäytetyömme toteutimme hyödyntäen laadullista tutkimusotetta ja aineistonkeruumenetelmänä käytimme teemahaastattelua. Teoriaosuudessa käsittelemme perhetyötä lastensuojelun tukimuotona, perhetyötä ja tehostettua perhetyötä sekä perhetyön prosessia. Käymme myös läpi osallisuuden ja kohtaamisen osa-alueita, jotka ovat osa asiakaslähtöisyyden teemaa. Haastatteluissamme osoittautui, että suurimmalla osalla haastatelluista vanhemmista oli ollut ennakkoluuloja perhetyötä kohtaan. Kaikilla haastateltavilla oli jäänyt mieleen perhetyöntekijöiden ensikohtaaminen, ja mahdollisten ennakkoluulojen kerrottiin hälvenneen tämän ensimmäisen tapaamisen jälkeen. Tämän lisäksi enemmistöllä oli ollut puutteellinen tietämys perhetyön sisällöstä. Suurin osa haastateltavistamme oli tyytyväisiä perhetyön toiminnassa etenkin itse perhetyöntekijöihin ja heidän taitoihinsa toimia lasten kanssa. Kehittämisen toiveita esitettiin liittyen esimerkiksi suunnitelmallisuuteen, lasten kuulemiseen toiminnan suunnittelussa sekä koko perheen huomioimiseen perhetyössä. Saimme myös välitettäväksemme toiveen siitä, että perhetyöstä tiedotettaisiin enemmän, ja näin se saataisiin paremmin kaikkien tietouteen. In our thesis, we surveyed parents’ experiences of the family work they have received in an anonymous municipality located in Northern Finland. Our goal was to find out whether their possible bias or preconceptions on family work had changed over their clientship. We also wanted to find out if the parents were satisfied with the service they had received. In addition to our own interest towards family work, the reasons for picking it as our subject were its currentness in Finnish social services and its multidimensionality. We hope that our thesis brings forth useful information not only to us, but to the family workers working for our cooperative partner. Within our interviews we gained a lot of relevant information concerning the first encounters between the family workers and the clients, the first impressions of the clients and the general attitude towards family work. This thesis was carried out as a qualitative study and we used a thematic interview method as the way to gather information. Our theory basis includes information about family work within Finnish child welfare, family work and intensified family work. We also examine the subjects participation and encounter from the point of view of customer oriented approach. Within our interviews it turned out that most of the interviewed parents had preconceptions towards family work before they met their family workers. The first encounter with them was an event every one of our interviewees remembered. It turned out that the preconceptions the parents had, disappeared after the first encounter. Before that, most of our interviewees also had an inadequate knowledge on what family work really contains. The main things most of the parents were satisfied with were the family workers themselves and their ability to work with children. When it comes to improving the received family work, the interviewed parents wished for better orderliness, hearing more of the of the childrens’ opinions while planning their activities and paying more attention to the whole family in the implementation of family work. One of the interviewees hoped for increased promoting of family work to improve common knowledge.
