Summary:During several cruises of the German Special Research Project 261 - The South Atlantic in the late Quaternary - to the South Atlantic Ocean, high resolution narrow beam echosounder data revealed sinusoidal structures in deep sea sediments, which showed a conspicuous spatial regularity over large areas in conjunction with pronounced internal layering.
