Summary:The paper studies the relationship between the place of residence of voters and their political orientations and values. The paper analyzes the results of empirical research conducted in July-August 2016 in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. Analysis of the data series of focus groups revealed differences stable political attitudes and preferences of residents of large cities and rural areas. They have been identified the most important factors affecting the motivation of electoral behavior and party preferences of voters of different age groups.
