| Summary: | Bailey Morse, Double Major in Women and Gender Studies & Psychology, The College at Brockport Bailey Morse is a senior pursuing a double major in psychology and women’s studies. Ms. Morse is the president of the Brockport chapter of the American Association of University Women, and headed the grant team that put on the “Be the Revolution Month” event series. She was a finalist for the Student Organization Officer of the Year for the 2016-17 school year, and has shown her commitment to social justice issues through her work on campus and with the Division of Human Rights in Rochester. Based on the Brockport Chapter of the American Association of University Women’s “Be the Revolution” series, hear a student’s perspective on what it takes to create an inclusive community, acknowledge biases to pursue better ally-ship, and use failures as a solid foundation to work from. “Be the Revolution” is a programming series put on by Brockport’s AAUW through the Community Action Project Grant from the national AAUW organization. It took place during Women’s History Month and attempted to abolish the intersectional leadership gap that exists globally by attacking the barriers and biases that cause it through lectures, workshops, and tabling events that consistently engaged as much of Brockport’s diverse student body as possible. GOAL/OUTCOME #1 Participants will be able to identify challenges in their communities that they want to improve and learn where to start when creating an inclusive movement. GOAL/OUTCOME #2 Participants will be able to identify and acknowledge their biases to become better allies GOAL/OUTCOME #3 Participants will be able to see their failures as stepping stones to reach their goals.
