Description
Summary:Palaeomagnetic and foraminiferal stable isotope results for the Amundsen Sea Embayment compiled for Doctoral Thesis 'Pleistocene – recent reconstruction of Antarctic climate in the Amundsen Sea'. Site U1533 was drilled during International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 379 to the Amundsen Sea. Natural Remanent Magnetisation (NRM), Anhysteretic Remanent Magnetisation (ARM) and Isothermal Remanent Magnetisation (IRM) was measured on a 2G Enterprises Model-755R pass through superconducting rock magnetometer (SRM) at the University of Southampton. ARM was acquired in a 100 mT alternating field with a direct current bias field of 0.05 mT. IRM was induced using a direct current pulse field of 300 mT at room temperature. Magnetic susceptibility (MS) was measured on a susceptibility track equipped with a Bartington MS3 meter and a 36-mm diameter MS2C loop sensor. Relative palaeointensity was analysed using the slope method (UPmag software) by normalising NRM by ARM, IRM and MS. Palaeomagnetic discrete data for Site U1533 measured at the University of Southampton. IRM acquisition (IRMacq), hysteresis and IRM backfield experiments were completed on a Princeton Measurements Corp. (now Lakeshore Inc.) Model 3900 vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) . All results were weight normalised. Coercivity (Bc), Remanent Coercivity (Bcr), Saturation Remanent Magnetisation (Mr) and Saturation Magnetisation (Ms) were also calculated using the previous analyses. Samples were collected during International Thwaites Glacier Collaboration (ITGC) Thwaites Offshore Research (THOR) scientific cruises NBP19-02 and NBP20-02. Foraminifera were identified, cleaned and measured at the University of Southampton on a Thermo Scientific DI-IRMS MAT 253. Bottom water stable isotopes measured at the University of Cambridge using a PICARRO L1102-I analyser, with a Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS) for oxygen isotopes, and Thermo Gas Bench attached to a Delta V Mass Spectrometer for carbon isotopes.
