Description
Summary:Positive parent-child relationships are pivotal for children's development, encompassing various facets such as emotional well-being and cognitive development. However, parenting stress and lack of parental educational resources often pose challenges. Parenting education courses aim to address these issues, enhancing parental skills and fostering secure attachments. Numerous evidence-based programs exist globally, Iceland faces a lack of parent education. This study explores parents' perspective on a new parental education course, "Are you connecting; Upbringing, attachment and parenthood," developed to address this gap. The data was obtained by using qualitative research methods, data was collected through course evaluations and semi-structured interviews with parents who completed the course. Thematic analysis revealed three core themes: Perceived Benefits of the Course, Course Structure, and Recommendations for Improvement. Participants expressed positive feedback, citing increased confidence, improved relationships, and valuable course content. Suggestions for improvement included adjustments in timing, enhanced interactivity, and additional content. Findings highlight the importance of parenting education in supporting parents and the course "Are you connecting; Upbringing, attachment and parenthood," is a good platform for that.
