Í lítilli smiðju Al in Al er almenningi boðið að upplifa og taka þátt í umbreytingu og endurmótun áls frá einum hlut í annan. Með því að minnka niður iðnaðarferli álmótunar er ferlið gert aðgengilegt almenningi. Markmiðið er að fá fólk til að endurhugsa samband sitt við efnið og kynnast því í nýju samhengi. Að framleiða nýtt ál er ein mest mengandi framleiðsla heims. Í tíðum umræðum um hin umdeildu álver Íslands á efnið sjálft það til að gleymast. Verkefnið veltir upp spurningum um virði efnisins og mikilvægi þess að virða einstaka endurmótunareiginleika þess. In a small-scale casting workshop, people are invited to join the process of transforming and reshaping aluminum. By scaling down the industrial process of melting and forming aluminum, participants are invited to get to know the process, rethink their relationship with aluminum and get to know the material in new context. The production of aluminum is one of the most polluting manufacturing processes, but in regular discussions in Iceland, the material itself is often overlooked. This project raises questions about the value of the material and the urgency of understanding and respecting its unique reshaping properties.
