This research is a qualitative study serving the purpose of gaining insight into how projectification is experienced by women who juggle multiple identities of being mothers, partners, and top managers in Icelandic businesses. The results of this research enhances our understanding on the role projects play in people’s lives as well as contextualizing how projects are increasingly taking up more room in both work and life settings. Eight women who hold top management positions within companies in Iceland were interviewed where they were asked open-ended questions about their experience with projectification in both their work as managers as well as their lives outside of work. The results indicated projectification takes place in the women’s organizations, mainly through the formalization of project management practices. The unequal division of labor in the participant’s households, particularly the tasks that adhered to third shift projects, was identified based on research results. Women in the study suggested they carried most the mental load and attributed it to the effort to have oversight when it comes to everything operating smoothly, whether that was in service of a family unit or a business unit.
