Ritgerð þessi er 10 eininga lokaverkefni og hluti af Baccalaureus Scientarium (BS) gráðu í Ferðamálafræði við Háskóla Íslands. Markmið verkefnisins er að fá og greina álit sérfræðinga í ferðaþjónustu á Íslandi á því hvernig eigi að fjármagna innviðauppbyggingu í ferðaþjónustu. Niðurstöður rannsóknarinnar byggja á viðtölum við fimm sérfræðinga í ferðaþjónustu, fólk sem vinnur í ferðaþjónustu eða er í starfi tengdu ferðaþjónustu. Bæði rannsóknir og skoðanir viðmælenda benda til þess að besta leiðin sé gjaldtaka. Einnig væri hægt að blanda saman leiðum með því að hafa bæði gjaldtöku á ferðamannastöðum og komugjöld. This thesis is a 10 ETC final project and part of Baccalaureus Scientarium (BS) degree in Tourism Studies at The University of Iceland. The objective of this project is to obtain and analyze the opinions of specialists in tourism in Iceland on how to finance the construction of infrastructure in tourism. The findings of the research are based upon interviews with five specialists in tourism, people who work in tourism or have a job connected to tourism. Researches as well as the opinions of the interviewees suggest that the best way is the collecting of fees. It would also be possible to mix together ways, by both collecting fees at tourist destinations and fees for each airline passanger that goes through the airport.
