| Summary: | Greinargerð þessi og vefsíða eru lokaverkefni mitt til meistaraprófs í blaða- og fréttamennsku við Háskóla Íslands. Í greinargerðinni er gerð grein fyrir efnistökum og vinnu við vefsíðuna sem kallast Shouts – Music from the Rooftops. Þar er athyglinni beint að tónlistarfólki sem nýtir hæfileika sína og raddir til góðs. Til er aragrúi af tónlistarfólki í dag sem nýtir rödd sína og hæfileika til að koma á framfæri skilaboðum um betri heim. Sumt af þessu tónlistarfólki er þegar þetta er skrifað að vinna að sinni fyrstu útgáfu eða nýlega búið að koma í slíkri útgáfu í dreifingu. Á stundum vinnur þetta tónlistarfólk að mörgu leyti svipað starf og blaðafólk og þau nýta samfélagsmiðla til að dreifa tónlist sem þau semja um leið og atburðir gerast í samfélaginu. Markmið verkefnisins er meðal annars að beina athyglinni að ábyrgð tónlistarfólks og bera saman við ábyrgð blaðafólks en einnig að bera saman þrjár starfstéttir sem eiga margt sameiginlegt, en er oftar en ekki stíað í sundur: tónlistarfólk, blaðafólk og aðgerðasinnar. This essay and webpage are my final project for Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication at The University of Iceland. The essay depicts the contents and work behind the webpage called Shouts – Music from the Rooftops. This webpage is a media project that focuses on finding socially conscious musicians, using various filters, and sharing their music and message. There is a great deal of musicians working today that use their voices and talents to get positive messages of protest across to their society they live in. Some of these musicians are at the time of writing this thesis working on their first album or they have just published it. Many of them do work that bears resemblance to the work of the journalist; they write and publish a new song, publish it immediatly on social media thus covering current topics.
