| Summary: | Ritgerð þessi er annar af tveimur hlutum lokaverkefnis í hagnýtri menningarmiðlun. Hinn hlutinn er vefþáttaserían Global Warning! sem birt er á vefsíðu Youtube. Viðfangsefni vefþáttaseríunnar er breytingar heimsins út frá loftslagsbreytingum en hér er skoðað af hverju enn heyrast háværar efasemdaraddir gagnvart niðurstöðum vísinda- og fræðimanna. Fjallað er um hlýnun jarðar og orðræðuna í kringum fræðaheiminn. Litið er til vefsins og þeirra möguleika sem þáttagerð fyrir vefinn býður upp á. Skoðað er hvernig þekking á listrænu notagildi kvikmyndagerðar getur nýst til að auka fjölbreytni í framsetningu. Farið verður í gegnum þróun vefþáttaseríunnar frá hugmynd til níu þátta fyrstu seríu. Unnið er með hugmyndir um breytta aðferðafræði í kringum verkferla í framleiðslu og útgáfu vefþátta. Reynt er að varpa ljósi á þá möguleika sem miðlunarleiðin gefur vísinda- og fræðimönnum. This thesis is one of two parts of a final project for a masters degree in applied studies in culture and communication at the University of Iceland. The second part is the webseries Global Warning! which is published on Youtube. The main theme of the webseries is how climate change is changing the world, but the thesis will look at why there is still a very vocal part of the general public doubting the scientific consensus. Global warming is discussed and looked in depth at the conversation between academics and the general public. The web is a big part of the project, especially opportunities for publishing educational, scientific and academical information as short documentary edisodes. Artistic expression of filmmaking is discussed in regards to diversity in presentation of academical knowledge. The final chapter takes a thorough look at the creation of the webseries, from an idea to final test stage of the nine episodes of the first series. A new methodology for producing and creating a webseries is tested. Finally, it tries to highlight the opportunities of visual communication for academics.
