| Summary: | The results of the comparative field social research conducted in the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with the use of a triangulation of the methods are presented: public opinion poll, focus group, participant observation. The research aimed to reveal in what degree the sociocultural milieu in two East countries were influenced by globalization processes, what is the traditional and modern culture interference in social contexts of life of the Yakut and Vietnamese cities. The ordinarily residents' answers received at questioning, the statements of experts containing the assessment of the modern situation, and also personal notes made by organizers and performers of the research project in which their observations were stated, were analyzed. By the poll it was found out that Vietnamese manifest themselves as reflexing traditionalists, than Sakha Republic residents. According to the expert opinion, in the Vietnamese society the active promotion of traditional culture protection and preservation initiated by citizens takes place while the state politics on preservation of traditional culture has declarative character.
