Description
Summary:Example of the spectrogram and waveform showing the clicks and STP pulses for Eistla on 08-25-2016. The inter-pulse intervals were used to encode the stomach temperature from the Acousonde.;Histograms of the whale depth at the onset of temperature drops for (a) the four narwhals equipped only with an STP tag and (b) the three narwhals equipped with both an STP tag and an Acousonde. The duration of the tracking and the total number of drops recorded are indicated in each panel individually. The horizontal red lines refer to the mean drop depth for each individual.;Individual histograms of the ST drop amplitude (a, c) and recovery time (b, d) for each type of tag. Note the differences in the ranges of the x axes. It is worth noting that in panel (d), recovery times exceeding 60 min might not be biologically relevant but were due to data gaps from the satellite transmitter, precluding the proper identification of the end of the feeding event.;(a) Number of daily ST drops (prey capture events) per individual and (b) average number of daily buzzes and ST drops for the three whales equipped with both an STP tag and an Acousonde. The numbers on the top of each bar refer to the values of ST drops or buzzes per day.
