Description
Summary:Between the Urals in the west and the Sea of Okhotsk in the east there is an enormous zone (3 million square kilometers) that is little developed but is rich in natural resources. The northern boundary of this zone coincides approximately with the northern boundary of forests. The southern boundary can conditionally be drawn along the Trans-Siberian mainline. The territory under investigation includes the Konda and Surgut area along the Ob, Vasiugan'e, the Enisei ridge, the latitudinal part of the Lena River Basin, the Aldan highlands, and the Okhotsk coast from Sakhalin Gulf to Nagaev Bay (see map).
