Summary:The conceptual apparatus associated with the industrial potential of the regions is considered. Taking into account the specific living conditions of the population and economic activity in the Arctic, the methodology for estimating the production, financial, human and infrastructural potential of the Arctic regions for 2013–2016 is chosen.As a result of the analysis, it was determined that strong differentiation is observed in the components of the industrial potential in the regions of theArctic. Tendencies of change of separate indicators by regions for 2013–2016 have been revealed.Ranking of the Arctic regions by the integral index of development of industrial potential allowed to determine that the best indicators are characteristic for the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District and theMurmanskregion. Chukotka AD on industrial potential takes the last place. The importance of assessing the level of industrial potential for the innovative development of the Arctic regions is shown. Further research is required to improve the methodology for assessing the industrial potential of the territories. The assessment allows to correct strategic directions of innovative development of specific regions. The methodology used can be used with appropriate adjustments to assess the industrial potential of northern and other subjects of theRussian Federation.
