The gull and the mallard defecated 0.96 g P and 0.88 g of N and 0.42 and 2.62 g per day per individual respectively. The participation of waterfowl in the nutrient loading to the reservoir was small (less than 1% of only inorganic P and N). The mallard significantly affects phosphorus and nitrogen cycling in the reservoir, and the gulls increase the phosphorus resources there.
