Summary:The 2008 Native American and Indigenous Studies Conference, was held in Athens, Georgia, USA from 10-12th July. The Conference was scholarly and interdisciplinary and was intended for Indigenous and non-Indigenous scholars who work in American Indian/ Native American/ First Nations/ Aboriginal/ Indigenous Studies. The 2008 gathering attracted over 400 such scholars from USA, Canada, Hawaii, Chile, New Zealand and Australia. This article provides a short report of the conference and the new Native American and Indigenous Studies Association.
