Summary:Polar education is fundamental in the face of the climate emergency. However, it still needs to be consolidated in the Brazilian context. Thus, the general objective of this work is to evaluate how the contents that talk about the Cryosphere are presented in some textbooks (LD) of Geography in Brazil. This research is justified because the last inventory, which evaluated textbooks on this topic, was carried out almost ten years ago. To evaluate the content of the Cryosphere in the BNCC, the following keywords were searched for in the document: Cryosphere, Antarctica, Arctic, Cryosphere and glaciers; only “Antártica” is present in the BNCC in the recommended contents for the eighth grade (EF08GE21). Of the 30 LD evaluated, six of them mention the Cryosphere. The two textbooks that have entire chapters dedicated to the polar regions and which, therefore, were considered the most suitable for polar education are: Araribá Mais Geografia (8th grade) and Expedições Geográficas (9th grade). Notably, several outdated data and incorrectly used terms were found in the textbooks, possibly due to the scarcity of material translated into Portuguese to support the material writers. Therefore, one can see the importance of producing para-didactic material to encourage polar education in Geography classes, among other actions. Dessa forma, os objetivos dessa pesquisa são: (i) avaliar como a Criosfera se apresenta na Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC); (ii) fazer um levantamento do conteúdo Criosfera em 30 livros didáticos (LD) do ensino fundamental e médio; (iii) avaliar os conteúdos quanto ao assunto abordado e a atualidade.
