Description
Summary:Atlantic Salmon of Maine, LLC of Fairfield, has applied for a permit for an $1.1 million aquaculture facility to be built along a pristine stretch of the Mount Desert Island coastline. The 15-acre lease site is north of the proposed location for a private pier on Bartlett Narrows that has been challenged in court as a hazard to navigation. Because the aquaculture site is below the low water mark, it is not zoned by the town and no municipal permit is required. The application will require permits from the Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Marine Resources. With details on the controversial pier proposed by Edward Johnson IV.
