Description
Summary:Cherryfield Foods, owned by Oxford Frozen Foods of Nova Scotia, is one of the largest blueberry and cranberry producers in Maine and the largest landowner in Washington County, with 41,500 acres. The company, which has a history of violations on its 8,600 acres of blueberry barrens, is facing alleged violations at its cranberry bog development in Township 18 north of Cherryfield village. John Albright of the Atlantic Salmon Federation said the situation in Township 18 undercut the state's salmon conservation plan. Ed Baum of the Atlantic Salmon Authority disagrees that the violations are a salmon issue. Details.
