Description
Summary:"Along the Waterfront" piece reporting that Alex Hadden and Rob Stevens, former apprentices at Lance Lee's apprenticeshop, have decided to go their separate ways after seven years of restoring and building wooden boats together. Hayden has set up a new shop on Bay Point Road in Georgetown, where he will completely rebuild a New York 32 over the next three years. He will also put a new backbone in a 50-year-old , 34-foot Alden sloop this coming winter. Meanwhile, he has also been repairing a 36-foot Knutson in a field in Bowdoinham. Stevens is working in a former workshop at the Hermit Island Campground in Small point. His big project involves building a replica of a 55-foot Norwegian craft in which Leif Eriksson is said to have sailed from Greenland to Newfoundland 1,000 year ago.
