"Edge" piece on the Province of Malagentia, the official name of the Southern Maine chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism Inc. The society is an international nonprofit group dedicated to pre-1700 role-playing activities. The Great Northeast War, held in Wiscasset in mid-July, is billed as the third largest such event in the Eastern Kingdom, an area stretching from Quebec and Newfoundland to eastern Pennsylvania. The Pennsic War, a two-week society event held in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, in August, is expected to draw 9,000 participants and as many as 5,000 combatants.
