The Great Northeast War, held in Wiscasset in mid-July, is billed as the third largest such event in the Eastern Kingdom, an area stretching from Quebec and Newfoundland to eastern Pennsylvania. The Pennsic War, a two-week society event held in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, in August, is expected to draw 9,000 participants and as many as 5,000 combatants.
