Description
Summary:Belarus has significant water resources for the development of various forms of aquaculture. The country's surface waters include 21,000 rivers, 11,000 lakes, 153 reservoirs and 1,500 ponds. Water resources of Belarus are estimated at 58 km³. Taking into account the global warming of the climate, an increase in water temperature in fresh continental water bodies leads not only to a change in their hydrochemical composition, but also to a subsequent change in biodiversity in water bodies and the penetration of unwanted invasive species of aquatic organisms into them. Of the 66 fish species that inhabit the reservoirs of Belarus, the objects of fishing are: bream, pike, pike perch, perch, roach, tench, bleak, burbot, rudd, ide, chub, eel and others. Fish deaths in water bodies of Belarus are regularly recorded. Asphyxia, as the cause of death, is dominant. The hydrochemical regime of water bodies, specifically the oxygen concentration, is used as the main diagnostic feature. Hydrobiological indicators, including phyto- and zoo-indicators of water pollution, as well as a full range of diagnostic veterinary measures are used insufficiently. It is recommended to systematically monitor the pre-freezing conditions of water bodies and take preventive measures in order to prevent summer and winter deaths.
