Description
Summary:The article is devoted to the beginning of Islam penetration in Western Siberia – one of the four regions in Russia and it considered to be the traditional religion. On the basis of the Arab-Persian, Tatar and Russian sources, as well as new archaeological material there were the stages of Islamization of the medieval population between the Urals and the Ob. The authors give special attention to the initial stages of penetration of the Muslim religion in the sphere of Turko-Ugric tribes of the South Siberian steppes and taiga zone.
