Collections of the Natural History Museum of Lyon include an almost complete adult skeleton of the gigantic sea-cow Hydrodamalis gigas, together with two skulls and two mandibles of the same species. These osteological pieces were acquired during the XIXth century and exhibited since to the public but remained unpublished. These are described here in detail for the first time. This material increases our knowledge of a recently extinct and poorly known large mammalian species relatively rare in the world's scientific collections.
