Clay Figurine (Dogu): Front
Front Final Jomon period. This has been called the "figurine with sun goggles or snow goggles" (shakoki dogu) because the large eyes with horizontal lines in the middle resemble the goggles (shakoki) used by Eskimos for coping with the reflection from bright snow.
