| Summary: | Understanding permafrost processes and changes requires long-term observational datasets. This dataset compiles images from two time-lapse cameras at the long-term observational site Samoylov, located in the Lena River Delta, Siberia (72.37 °N, 126.48 °E). The landscape is characterized by polygonal tundra with a shallow snow cover (below 0.8m) from the end of September until late May. Here we publish images from 2 time-lapse cameras looking at the long-term observatory. The time-lapse camera images give valuable insights into spatial heterogeneity of the flora and snow cover, as well as the timing of the snow covered period and vegetation phenology. The cameras took between 1 and 8 pictures per day in the years 2006 to 2021. This data set contains pictures of September 2018 to September 2021. The images are not edited and also low visibility images are included in this data set.
